With the innumerable Sabah attractions, it’s difficult to fit everything in one vacation. You have to choose which destinations to forego and which one is a must in your travel. To help you with this decision, here are places you shouldn’t miss when visiting Sabah.
1. Maliau Basin
Sabah’s Lost World, is a conservation area where you can find thousands of species of plants and animals. Besides that, this Sabah basin has majestic waterfalls that will surprise people, whether or not they are nature-lovers.
2. Sabah Cultural Village
You can opt to go to Monsopiad cultural village or Mari-Mari cultural village. Either choice will immerse you in the rich culture of Malaysia and allow you to experience first-hand what their traditional food is like and how they create some things from scratch.
3. Sabah island hopping
Go to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, and there, you can find a boat to ferry you to the different islands. You can go Sabah diving or snorkeling, popular and fun activities in the islands. There are five islands to visit, but due to time constraint, it would be better to think which to go to. Stay at Manukan Island Resort Sabah or other Sabah island resort, because for sure this trip will be tiring.
4. Turtle Islands National Park
40km north of Sandakan, it’s a sight to behold when you catch turtles lay eggs. Of course, it’s a matter of timing because not everyone will see this event, although you can definitely see lots of turtles here.
5. Sungai Kinabatangan
If you think rhinoceros are only for movies and books, coming here will surprise you. This river and the land surrounding it is a famous tourist attraction, and you won’t regret ever spending a day here. You don’t have to get dirty too, as you can simply ride a boat to see the area.
