If you were only given four whole days to spend in Sabah, what would you do? Given that Sabah attractions are infinite, it’s difficult to compress everything into four days. But here is an idea on what an ideal vacation for me would be like.
Day 1 – Tunku Abdul Rahman
It’s nearly impossible not to go Sabah island hopping. For this first day, go Sabah diving or snorkelling in the beautiful islands. There are five islands you can choose from, and you start by going to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park for the tour. Make sure to visit Pulau Sapi and its beach, then spend the night at Manukan island resort Sabah.
Day 2 – Maliau Basin
If the excitement from island hopping is not enough, then go to Maliau Basin, Sabah’s “Lost World”. This wildlife and rainforest conservation area will give you all sorts of flora and fauna you didn’t think possible. Try bird watching with your group, and trek towards the big waterfalls in the area.
Day 3 – Cultural Village
I’m sure you’ll be tired from two days of adrenaline rush, so go for a more cultural tour too. Sabah cultural villages are found in the capital Kota Kinabalu. You can choose Monsopiad cultural village or Mari-Mari cultural village, Sabah’s most visited ethnic villages. Here, there are guided tours you can join so you can see everything there is.
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs
Mount Kinabalu is another attraction Sabah is very proud of. But near this is another visited place called Poring Hot Springs. The sulphur baths you can enjoy is one of a kind, because you will be surrounded by a beautiful garden. The tiring hike and relaxing bath are really Sabah’s way of showing how each day can be made fulfilling.
